Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Aylsham Medical Day Unit (AMDU), a nurse-led service providing planned care across specialties. This role offers development within a busy, friendly team delivering care to patients referred from all paths of the Acute Trust.

You will administer medications, monitor treatments including IV therapies and blood products, document care and support early discharge and patient independence,

Qualifications

• Provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care across a range of clinical pathways.
• Promote patient independence, admission avoidance and early discharge.
• Administer and monitor medications and treatments, including IV therapies.
• Safely administer and monitor blood products and manage adverse reactions.
• Monitor patients before, during and after procedures and treatments.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and records.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the MDT.
• Recognise and respond to changes in a patient’s condition and escalate as needed.
• Ensure infection prevention and control standards are maintained.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement and service development.
• Maintain professional knowledge through CPD and reflective practice.
• Work flexibly as part of a 7-day service (07:00–19:30).

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective nursing care to AMDU patients.
• Administer meds and IV therapies; monitor treatments.
• Monitor blood products and manage reactions appropriately.
• Document care accurately and timely.
• Communicate with patients, relatives and the MDT.
• Recognise deterioration and escalate promptly.
• Support infection prevention and control practices.
• Contribute to audits and service development.
• Engage in CPD and reflective practice.
