Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is seeking a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor in Gateshead. This hybrid role combines home working with assessment centre days, offering stability and a balanced schedule.

You'll be a registered nurse or HCPC professional (NMC/HCPC) conducting PIP assessments, analysing evidence and producing clear, evidence-based reports. The role emphasises clinical reasoning and structured processes with ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Must have active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions.
• Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience.
• Experience in functional assessment or advisory roles is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Are you an NMC-registered Nurse or HCPC-registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist ready for a change from frontline clinical work, but keen to continue using your expertise?

As a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor at Medacs Healthcare, you'll complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) functional assessments to understand how health conditions affect everyday life. This is a non-hands-on clinical role centred on clinical reasoning, analysis and report writing.

The hybrid working model combines home working with time at one of our assessment centres, offering predictable hours, long-term stability and a healthier work-life balance.

We offer a starting salary o

f £42,000, which will increase to

£46,000 at 12 months once fully accredited and working from a site a minimum of 3 days per week. Annual salary reviews thereafter, performance related incentives and overtime also available.

What we're looking for

• Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist
• Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
• Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confident use of digital systems (35 WPM typing speed)
• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
• Experience in functional assessment or advisory roles
• Confidence in producing high-quality written clinical reports
