Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is offering a Trainee Nurse Colposcopist position at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. This role supports driven nurses to complete the recognised colposcopy training pathway, including accredited courses, supervised practice, and portfolio assessments.

On successful progression, you move to an autonomous nurse colposcopist role within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• RN qualification with NMC registration and a nursing degree or health-related subject.
• Experience in gynaecology, women's health, sexual health, cancer services or cervical screening.
• Ability to undertake diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy including LLETZ, cold coagulation and cryocautery.
• Willingness to undertake study and training relevant to the speciality and role.

Responsibilities

• Undertake nurse-led colposcopy clinics within authorised scope and competence.
• Assess patients with abnormal cervical screening results or suspected abnormalities.
• Provide information, counselling and emotional support before, during and after procedures.
• Perform colposcopic examinations and cervical biopsies when competent.
• Undertake treatment procedures following training and competency assessment.
• Review cytology, histology and clinical findings to develop management plans.
• Escalate suspected cervical cancer or complex pathology promptly to the lead colposcopist.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure referrals and follow-up are completed on time.
