Job summary

Tidewater Community College in Norfolk is seeking a Nurse Aide Instructor to lead an exam-prep CNA course in its non-credit Workforce Solutions program. The adjunct instructor will teach in classrooms, laboratories, and clinical settings at TCC campuses and community locations to prepare students for CNA certification and careers.

The ideal candidate holds an active RN license with at least two years of nursing experience (one year in long-term care), plus strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active RN license with at least two years nursing experience, including one year in long‑term care.
• Completion of the Train‑the‑Trainer course is required if the RN or LPN does not have documented experience as an adult educator.
• Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems.
• Ability to design and adapt lesson plans to diverse community college students.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create a learning environment that facilitates acquisition of knowledge and skills.
• Align activities with course learning outcomes and provide prompt feedback.
• Deliver instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings; assess student learning.
• Schedule may include day, evening, or weekend classes.
• Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course.
