Job summary

Babcock International in Plymouth is seeking a Technical Author for our Devonport Royal Dockyard site. You will research, develop and maintain controlled documentation to support radioactive waste management operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Working with engineers, SMEs and operational teams, you will create clear procedures, validate technical information, and support planning, scheduling and cost-estimation activities in a highly regulated defence environment.

Qualifications

• Understanding of engineering principles and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Ability to analyse information from multiple technical sources and produce clear, accurate documentation.
• Understanding of industrial and radiological working environments and associated hazards.
• Ability to review operational activities and procedures within a regulated environment.
• Experience supporting the maintenance of facilities and equipment within an engineering or industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining technical procedures and operational documentation supporting radioactive waste management activities.
• Collaborating with engineers, subject matter experts and operational teams to gather and validate technical information.
• Providing technical support for work planning, scheduling and cost-estimation activities.
• Conducting onsite reviews to ensure documentation remains accurate, current and fit for purpose.
• Performing quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual and safety requirements.
