Job summary

ALTEN in Bristol seeks a Structural Engineer to join the Nuclear sector, working on high-profile EPR projects and related building structures.

You will design, analyse and model reinforced concrete and steel components, ensuring compliance with Eurocodes, ETC-C and safety standards while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams on site. UK BPSS clearance is required; on-site work pattern is 3 days/week in Bristol.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in structural design of reinforced concrete.
• Proven experience within nuclear, energy or other highly regulated industries.
• Solid understanding of Eurocodes and nuclear-related design standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyse reinforced concrete structures for nuclear facilities and associated infrastructure.
• Perform structural calculations and modelling to ensure compliance with relevant design codes and safety requirements.
• Design and analyse reinforced concrete for EPR nuclear power plants in accordance with applicable codes and standards (Eurocodes, ETC‑C).
• Support design changes and modifications by assessing structural impacts and recommending appropriate engineering solutions.
• Ensure structural integrity and resilience under a wide range of loading conditions, including seismic, dynamic, environmental loads and temporary construction sequences.
• Assess and manage design changes, evaluating structural impacts and proposing appropriate design modifications.
• Provide technical support during construction, including site assessments and resolution of structural issues.
