Job summary

UKNNL is recruiting a Mechanical Craft for our Preston Laboratory. You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering maintenance, breakdown, and project tasks in a clean-energy and safety-critical setting.

The role requires a time-served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, safe-working practices, and the ability to read engineering drawings. You’ll work on pumps, piping, and pressure systems, with strong team collaboration and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience working under a safe system of work.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Capable of working in a team to meet targets.
• Familiar with pressure systems, pumps, pipework and protective devices.
• Commitment to high workmanship and housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspection, maintenance and testing on plant and equipment.
• Carry out breakdown and recovery maintenance as required.
• Support project activities and process improvements.
• Assist with installation, modification and commissioning of plant equipment.
• Follow and update maintenance instructions and records in the CMMS.
