Job summary

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is offering a role in Nuclear Medicine for a motivated technologist, radiographer or physics graduate seeking to develop in healthcare science.

You will join a multidisciplinary team and support clinical scientists, participate in training of trainee staff, help ensure SOPs and regulations are followed, and contribute to service development.

Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join us within our Nuclear Medicine department. The post holder will primarily provide support to the Clinical Scientists within the department with a number of varied and routine tasks and service development, working within a friendly, multi-disciplinary team of physicists, technologists, nurses, radiologists and admin staff.

We currently have a dedicated solid state cardiac gamma camera and four hybrid SPECT CT gamma cameras. We support Sentinel Lymph Node surgery, and carry out a range of molecular radiotherapies, including I-131 ablation, I-131 thyrotoxic, Ra-223 and Lu-177 therapies. We provide technical support to Alliance Healthcare in the provision of a PET/CT service. There are many opportunities for service development and improvement projects.

The Post Holder Will

• Participate in the day-to-day supervision of trainee technical staff assigned to Nuclear Medicine, assisting in the delivery of work-based training.
• Provide expert knowledge in the field of Nuclear Medicine, ensuring that Standard Operating Protocols and other relevant legislation are followed.
• To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team as required in the performance of duties.
• Undertake other duties assigned by the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics
