Job summary

EDF’s four-year Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship offers paid training with a starting salary of £17,606. The first two years are spent at the National College for Nuclear in Somerset, developing practical mechanical, electrical and instrumentation skills with modern facilities.

Years 3 and 4 are at Heysham 1 or Heysham 2, where you’ll gain real-world experience under mentoring and complete a BTEC Level 3 qualification, building a solid foundation for a career in engineering.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including Maths and English and two science/technical subjects.
• Willingness to learn and a positive attitude towards developing new skills.
• Security vetting and UK residency criteria as required by the role.

Responsibilities

• Engage in specialist maintenance training and develop practical skills in the nuclear sector.
• Receive guidance from mentors and engineering teams throughout the apprenticeship.
• Develop technical, communication and problem-solving capabilities applying learning to real engineering challenges.
• Progress along a clear pathway into skilled engineering roles with future career opportunities.
