Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking a Sustainability Advisor to join a major nuclear infrastructure project in Cumbria on a permanent basis. You will embed sustainability, environmental responsibility and carbon reduction initiatives across all project phases, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and client commitments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Certification such as IEMA advantageous.
• Experience in construction or infrastructure with regulated projects.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
• Eligibility for UK security clearance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and delivering Sustainability Strategy, Environmental Management Plans and Carbon Reduction Plans.
• Provide practical sustainability and environmental advice to project and construction teams within a nuclear-regulated environment.
• Monitor and report performance against sustainability KPIs, ESG objectives and client requirements.
• Drive carbon reduction, energy efficiency, waste minimisation, resource efficiency and responsible sourcing initiatives.
• Support implementation of PAS 2080 principles and circular economy practices.
• Coordinate sustainability data collection, analysis and reporting for internal, client and regulatory submissions.
• Engage with supply chain to ensure sustainability requirements are understood and applied.
• Support environmental compliance and liaise with Environmental Advisors, HSE and regulatory bodies.
