Job summary

Carmichael UK are seeking a Risk Manager to join the team on a Nuclear project based in Cumbria. You will develop and maintain the project-wide risk management framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

You will identify, assess and prioritise risks across all civil engineering works (design, procurement, construction, commissioning), quantify risk using qualitative and quantitative techniques, and maintain the risk register with clear ownership and mitigations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the project-wide risk management framework aligned with nuclear regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Identify, assess, and prioritise risks across all civil engineering works (design, procurement, construction, commissioning).
• Quantify risks using qualitative and quantitative techniques, utilising risk matrices and simulations.
• Maintain and update the project risk register with clear ownership, mitigation actions, and status tracking.
• Interface with the nuclear safety case team to reflect civil engineering risks in licensing submissions.
• Provide risk-based input into contingency planning, budgeting, and schedule float management.
• Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management, clients, and regulators.
• Promote a risk-aware culture across site teams and conduct audits for continuous improvement.
