Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in the United Kingdom is seeking an Environmental Manager to lead environmental permit compliance at a nuclear licensed manufacturing facility in Preston.

You will work to build and onboard a new environmental function, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, reporting to the Head of Environment and driving robust processes to ensure long-term compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental permitting at nuclear or other regulated industries.
• Ability to interpret and apply permit conditions in operational settings.
• Collaborative approach with operational teams to support environmental compliance and continuous improvement.
• Experience supporting onboarding, development and mentoring of colleagues.
• Understanding of audit and regulatory inspection processes, including external audits and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the site's environmental permit and regulatory requirements.
• Review and improve environmental compliance processes.
• Provide practical guidance on permit requirements to operational teams.
• Identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Support regulatory inspections, audits, and regulator engagement.
• Support the growth and development of the Environment Team.
• Develop systems, procedures and documentation to support permit compliance.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and reporting.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and safety teams to embed environmental requirements.
