Job summary

AWE in Aldermaston, Reading, is recruiting a Compliance and Nuclear Safety Lead to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of assets and operations now and into the future.

The role is fully onsite with a 9-day working fortnight, every other Friday non-working, and opportunities to influence safety cases, regulatory interactions and governance within the Business Unit. A British citizenship and UK residency history is required for security clearance.

Qualifications

• Nuclear safety and compliance expertise required.
• Experience with safety cases and regulatory interactions.
• Ability to lead cross-functional governance and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, integration and maintenance of nuclear safety justifications.
• Ensure safety cases remain current and aligned to operations.
• Advise senior leadership on safety adequacy, margins and constraints.
• Ensure compliance with site licence conditions, authorisation conditions and permits.
• Provide assurance that operations meet nuclear, environmental, health, safety, security and quality requirements.
• Lead regulatory interface and engagement with regulators and inspections.
• Coordinate safety, engineering, operations and assurance to align safety justification with future intent.
• Drive governance and management arrangements across the Business Unit.
