Job summary

NatWest Group is seeking an Infrastructure NSX Engineer to design and operate the NSX-based network for the Private Cloud, aligning with bank-wide targets and security requirements.

You will collaborate with component owners, manage lifecycles, and work with vendors to enhance performance, automation, and observability across our cloud platforms. This role also requires flexibility for out-of-hours and weekend duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in NSX and network engineering.
• Scripting (Python or Shell) advantageous but not essential.
• Strong understanding of Agile working practices and Release Train vision.

Responsibilities

• Engineer the network infrastructure for the Private Cloud (VMware NSX) to support customers and targets.
• Collaborate with component owners to create roadmaps and manage lifecycle, incorporating feedback and issues.
• Collaborate with vendors and Cloud Infrastructure to improve performance and automation across the platform.

What you'll do

As an Infrastructure NSX Engineer, you’ll be engineering the network infrastructure for the Private Cloud (VMWare product) to support our customers, as well as our strategic targets. This is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in a highly innovative and supportive environment

You’ll collaborate with component owners to create roadmaps and manage the lifecycle, taking customer feedback, new feature requests and production issues into consideration. As you continue to manage the selection, creation and maintenance of the NSX Network components, you’ll ensure that our solutions comply with the bank’s requirements and responsibilities.

You’ll also:

• Collaborate with our vendors and Cloud Infrastructure to Iidentify new ways to solve problems and enhance performance using tech tools
• Provide operational support for pattern or product-related issues, and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as codenetwork solutions
• Build awareness of design-thinking tools and techniques across the bank to improve products
• Work with key stakeholders to ensure that we continue to deliver the best possible service

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you are required to have experience in NSX and network engineering. software development or automation scripting, such as Python or Shell, would be advantageous but are not essential. You’ll be knowledgeable in Network deployment, distributed firewalls and troubleshooting.

We’ll expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets, with the ability to create the vision for the Release Train, feature team, platform and domain.

In addition, you’ll have:

• Experience of the development of CI or CD pipelines using modern tooling
• Experience in Network testing practices and tools, as well as observability tools and techniques to continuously improve solutions
• Private cloud technology knowledge such as IaaS, PaaS and VSAN technologies
• Experience of working with technology deployed in a private cloud
• Strong collaborative and communication skills, and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly
