Job summary

Advanced Technical Recruitment is seeking an NPD Manager to drive the client's new product development programme in the UK. You will lead a small team of engineers and technicians, managing NPD projects from definition through to manufacturing transfer.

The role requires at least 5 years in product or engineering development of complex and precision equipment, with experience in instrumentation and motion control.

Qualifications

• Experience in instrumentation, special purpose machinery, motion control (stepper motors, DC motors, actuators), robotic systems or related development.

Responsibilities

• Lead NPD and manage the new product development programme to deliver on-time, in-full, to specification.
• Define NPD roadmap and product specifications; lead transfer of new products to manufacturing.
• Create and maintain project documentation to a high standard.
• Support existing product range, service and test with fault finding and obsolescence mitigation; assist customers, distributors and engineering teams.

Job description

A leader in specialist scientific instrumentation is now looking for an NPD Manager to deliver their new products development programme.

In this hands on role you will make a significant contribution to the business, managing and delivering NPD projects on-time, in-full, and to specification.

As NPD Manager you will contribute to the detailed definition of the NPD roadmap and product specifications and lead the transfer of new products to the manufacturing.

You will be leading a small team of engineers, technicians and/or apprentices, including electronics, firmware, software and mechanics, as required,.

Leading NPD, you will establish specifications and functional descriptions covering mechanical, electronic and software requirements.

As NPD Manager, you will create and maintain project documentation to a high standard.

Products should meet and achieve certification to relevant product standards (e.g. EN61010).

When NPD projects are ready, you will assist with transferring new products to the production team.

In addition to NPD responsibility, you will also be responsible for the existing product range, supporting service and test with fault finding, identifying solutions for faults and obsolescence and support customers, distributors and engineering with technical and service matters.

Experience

To understand the portfolio of products we are seeking experience in instrumentation, special purpose machinery, motion control such as stepper motors, dc motors and actuators, robotic systems or special purpose machinery development.

To take on the role of NPD Manager, you should have at least 5 years experience in product development or engineering development of complex and precision equipment.

Additional Information

Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK, without ever requiring sponsorship. Copies of Passports and Visas will be requested for verification.

There will be occasional overnight business travel. As such the successful candidate MUST hold a Full clean UK driving licence.

Salary / benefits: c£60k, plus 10% bonus and benefits.
