About the Job:

Main duties of the job
  • Demonstrate awareness of RHN’s objectives and contribute to achieving them appropriately.
  • Strive to improve efficiency in all areas of work.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Assist registered nurses and other HCAs in delivering direct care to patients within the ward.
  • Work within agreed nursing standards under the direction of registered nurses or NVQ healthcare assistants.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene care, including washing, bathing, dressing, continence, and mouth care, enabling independence where possible.
  • Assist with mobility, including hoisting, positioning, and using mobility aids.
  • Support patients with eating and drinking, including using adapted feeding equipment, recording intake, and assisting patients with impaired swallowing.
  • Communicate proficiently with patients and others, especially in challenging situations, supporting patients with complex communication needs or behavioral/emotional challenges due to brain injury.
  • Support patients in pursuing social and leisure activities and facilitate participation in such programs.
  • Participate fully in a 24/7 staff roster, including working bank holidays, as required by the service needs.
