The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Trust has a national and international reputation in Addiction and Co-Occurring Mental Health Alcohol and Drugs (COMHAD) treatment. Addictions Plus, LYPFT, works alongside other partners that make up Forward Leeds, a CQC outstanding rated organisation.
Following OHID (Office for Health Improvement and Disparities) investment and expansion of the service an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi-disciplinary team as a Non-Medical Prescriber. The post holder will run prescribing clinics across the hubs.
You will work closely with all areas of the Forward Leeds partnership, ensuring that service users are provided with evidence-based treatment, specialist psychosocial and pharmacological interventions.
You will be joining a diverse and skilled team that consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist, Clinical Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses, Non-medical prescribers, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Specialist Midwives.
The post holder will run prescribing clinics for people experiencing addiction and co-occurring mental health problems; prescribing a range of addiction pharmacotherapies. There will be no direct case management, but the post holder will work collaboratively with the case manager, the wider MDT and service users in making decisions relating to treatment plans.
To offer clinical supervision to junior staff and supervision to those undergoing /recently completed non-medical prescribing training. The posts holder will also be provided with excellent supervision and support in terms of career development and learning.
The post holder will deliver specialist psychosocial interventions to people experiencing addiction problems and co-occurring mental health and other complex needs.
To be involved in service development and staff training.
They will represent the service at various meetings and forums within LYPFT, Forward Leeds, as well as at external events.

The Non-Medical Prescriber is responsible and accountable for providing safe, effective care and efficient services to service users and their carers who live within the community. Key aspects of the role include conducting of mental health assessments, contribution to MDT meetings, commitment to promoting recovery and maximising independence. They will participate in team and service development and evaluation. Liaison, advice and consultation with other services is required.
This post is also responsible for the provision and supervision of non-medical prescribing within the Addictions Plus Service.
