Main Duties of the Job

The ideal candidates will have:

• A strong commitment to public service and NHS principles
• Excellent communication, leadership, and people skills
• Experience in building strong teams and encouraging a positive, inclusive culture
• A clear focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion
• Previous experience at Board level, with an understanding of the difference between executive and non-executive roles
• Confidence in identifying and addressing challenges, including underperformance, and the ability to ask the right questions and analyse information effectively

About Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS)

BSPS is one of the largest NHS pathology networks in the county. It is a contractual joint venture between five NHS Foundation Trusts, operating with a unified management, financial, and governance structure. It serves a population of 3.2 million, processes over 50 million tests per year, employs 1,600 clinicians, scientists, and support staff, and has costs approaching £150 million.

The five partner Trusts are: Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS FT, Frimley Health NHS FT, Royal Berkshire NHS FT, Royal Surrey NHS FT, and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
