JMC Legal Recruitment is seeking a Non-Contentious Construction Associate (4–6 PQE) for a top 25 international law firm in London. You will advise on major UK and international construction, energy, and infrastructure matters, working with leading partners on high-value matters across the project lifecycle.

The role offers exposure to cross-border matters, direct client contact and long-term progression within a prestigious international practice.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
  • 4–6 years' PQE in non-contentious construction.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation experience across JCT/NEC; familiarity with FIDIC/EPCM beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on major UK and international construction projects.
  • Draft, review and negotiate construction agreements (JCT, NEC, bespoke).
  • Manage client relationships and development of junior lawyers.

About the Team

The Construction & Development team is a market-leading practice with a strong reputation for advising on significant development, energy and infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.

The team advises across the full lifecycle of construction and engineering projects, with particular strength across energy transition, renewables, power, utilities, data centres, transport, social infrastructure, industrial processing and major commercial and real estate development.

Its clients include developers, sponsors, funds, utilities, independent power producers, contractors, operators, technology providers and public sector bodies. The team advises on procurement strategies, development structures, joint ventures, construction and O&M contracts, project finance structures and major regeneration and infrastructure programmes.

Associates benefit from strong breadth of work, early responsibility and direct client contact, working closely with highly regarded partners on complex and strategically important projects.

The Role

This opportunity is ideal for a Non-Contentious Construction Solicitor with 4-6 years' PQE looking to take the next step within a highly regarded international Construction & Development practice.

Working closely with senior lawyers and clients, you will lead and support workstreams on major UK and international projects across the energy, infrastructure, data centre and commercial development sectors. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of matters, develop strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Your work will include:
  • Advising on major UK and international construction and engineering projects across energy, renewables, power, utilities, infrastructure and data centres.
  • Drafting and negotiating construction agreements, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke contracts.
  • Advising on professional appointments, collateral warranties, guarantees, security and long-term operational agreements.
  • Advising developers, sponsors, funders, contractors, utilities, operators and public sector clients on procurement, risk allocation and wider commercial matters.
  • Supporting complex development and regeneration projects across commercial, residential, retail, leisure, hotel and mixed-use schemes.
  • Working with Projects, Energy, Real Estate, Corporate and other specialist teams on multidisciplinary transactions.
  • Taking ownership of workstreams and providing practical, commercially focused advice directly to clients.
  • Contributing to business development, pitches, client relationships and junior lawyer development.

Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 4-6 years' PQE.
  • Strong experience advising on construction and engineering projects, ideally across energy, renewables, power, utilities, infrastructure, data centres and/or commercial development.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation experience across JCT, NEC and bespoke construction agreements; FIDIC, EPC, EPCM or other international project experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the legal and commercial issues affecting major construction, development and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong client and project relationships.
  • Commercially minded and organised, with a proactive approach to client development and the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively.
