Cboe Global Markets in London seeks a seasoned NOC Engineer to support, operate, and optimize the reliability of our latency‑sensitive global network and cloud mix. You will design and run on‑prem and cloud connectivity, automate monitoring with Python and Claude Code, and participate in follow‑the‑sun coverage with a structured shift schedule.
Strong diagnostic and communication skills are essential. This role emphasizes incident response, root cause analysis, and cross‑team collaboration
The Cboe office in London is situated in The Monument Building, a modern space that spans two floors and features a spacious outdoor balcony. From the balcony, employees can enjoy stunning views of some of London's most iconic architectural landmarks, adding a unique touch to the work environment. The building is equipped with convenient amenities for office commuters, including bike storage and showers, making it easy for staff to freshen up after their commute. Its prime location in the heart of London's financial district ensures that employees have easy access to a variety of cafes, restaurants, and shops, creating an ideal balance of work and leisure., A core member of Cboe's global infrastructure organization, the NOC Engineer is a highly technical, hands‑on engineer responsible for supporting, operating, and improving the reliability, performance, and fairness of network connectivity across all trading platforms to include on‑premises and cloud environments. This role is designed for experienced network technologists who combine deep networking fundamentals with foundational cloud engineering capabilities, modern automation, AI‑assisted tooling, and software‑driven operations. Cboe's network function operates as a multi‑tier, customer‑focused engineering team that bridges Network Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Security Engineering, Systems Engineering, and the Trade Desk. NOC Engineers provide world‑class technical support while also acting as true engineers - employing complex troubleshooting, customer connectivity onboarding, real‑time monitoring, incident response, change execution, and escalation management for a highly distributed, latency‑sensitive global network spanning both physical infrastructure and cloud platforms. A defining element of this role is its strong emphasis on AI‑enabled operations and automation. NOC Engineers actively design, build, and maintain intelligent tooling using Claude Code, Python, and APIs to modernise alerting, accelerate root cause analysis, reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), and eliminate repetitive operational work. A strong understanding of API‑driven automation is a core requirement, and experience building or operating agent‑based automation is considered a strong differentiator. This role is expected to contribute directly to the evolution of a next‑generation, software‑driven network, and cloud operations function. NOC Engineers work independently with minimal supervision, collaborate directly with customers' network engineers and internal infrastructure teams, and serve as escalation points for junior staff. Candidates must be comfortable supporting critical infrastructure during extended shifts and participating in an on‑call or escalation rotation as required. Success in this role requires technical depth across routing, MPLS, firewall technologies, and packet‑level troubleshooting, as well as working knowledge of core cloud infrastructure concepts (compute, networking, storage, and IAM) within AWS. Strong operational judgment, communication skills, and the ability to translate complex telemetry and packet‑level data into clear, actionable outcomes for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders are equally essential. This role operates on a structured shift schedule to support Cboe's global follow‑the‑sun coverage model. Shifts are structured on a Wednesday‑Sunday or Friday‑Tuesday basis to ensure overlapping regional support and continuous weekend coverage. Schedules may also adjust periodically throughout the year in alignment with daylight saving time changes across regions.
