What you'll be doing

  • Planning, coordinating, preparing, building and servicing F1 cars, subcomponents and pit equipment (Williams and client owned) to spec, working effectively to deadlines before, during and after events
  • Working primarily from the factory, with regular travel to client events, demonstrations and racing activities
  • Maintaining the car, equipment and garage/workshop to an elite, client-facing standard, flagging any technical or operational risks promptly
  • Proactively updating and enhancing departmental databases and technical documentation relating to car builds, lifing and maintenance

  • Building strong working relationships across Heritage, Event Support, Race Team and third-party suppliers
  • Acting as a positive, influential role model for peers, and helping represent the Williams Heritage and Williams F1 brand

Qualifications

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on experience of full F1 (or equivalent single-seater) build and strip-down, including gearbox, hydraulics, pneumatics, suspension and bodywork, working confidently from engineering drawings, spec sheets and build manuals
  • Working knowledge of torque and quality control processes (for example torque verification, wire-locking, control documentation)
  • Confidence operating and maintaining pit/garage equipment (rigs, air jacks, fuel and fluid rigs) to current safety standards
  • In-depth, first-hand knowledge of F1 car assembly, systems and running order, including the judgement to safely fill gaps where heritage cars lack the build manuals or lifing data available on current cars, and to feed those learnings back into departmental records
  • Previous motorsport experience as a Mechanic, ideally gained in F1, WEC, GP2 or an equivalent environment
  • A full, clean driving licence (trailer/towing endorsement desirable)
  • Forklift, dangerous goods and First Aid certifications are a bonus
