Job summary

Ford and Slater are hiring an HGV Technician for the night shift at our Birtley dealership. You will service and maintain trucks, perform safety inspections, and diagnose faults while ensuring work follows manufacturer procedures.

We offer training, overtime at premium rates, and extensive benefits including pension, life insurance, and cycle-to-work schemes. On-site with full UK driving licence and own toolkit required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within HGV or related sectors.
• Training available to transfer from light commercial or car mechanics to HGV.
• Apprenticeship or formal training programme to Level 3 in CV maintenance and repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs follow manufacturer procedures.
• Sound diagnostic skills to identify faults.
• Ability to carry out safety inspections and MOT preparation.
• Follow company processes for completing job cards and service records.
• Computer literacy is advantageous.
• Own toolkit and Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Fault diagnostics and repairing according to procedures.
• Road test vehicles when required, subject to licence restrictions.
