Job summary

Rullion Limited is seeking an experienced Defects Technician to join our rolling stock engineering operation in Barton-under-Needwood. The role is night shifts, 40 hours per week, on a 12-month rolling contract, with training on day shift until signed off.

You will carry out fleet modifications, fault diagnosis, defect rectification and safety-critical testing, interpreting drawings and using diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• 3-5 years' experience in a rolling stock engineering environment.
• Experience fault-finding and defect rectification on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment.
• Familiarity with SES or similar production systems and MS Office.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
• Safety-critical work experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned rolling stock modifications and technical upgrades.
• Install, remove, replace and commission rolling stock components.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Investigate defects and identify root causes.
• Complete work orders and maintenance documentation.
• Work with engineering, production and depot teams.
• Act as an Authorised Person where competent and appointed.
