Job summary

Fowler Welch is seeking a Yard Controller for night shifts (19:00–07:00) on a 4 on 4 off pattern. The role focuses on timely trailer movements, yard control, and safe, compliant operation across loading bays and yard spaces.

The successful candidate will hold a full driving licence and LGV entitlement, CPC Driver Card, and prior shunting experience. Fridge knowledge and basic vehicle maintenance are desirable. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full driving licence and LGV entitlement
• CPC Driver Card required
• Experience with shunting LGVs and yard operations
• Knowledge of fridge systems and basic vehicle maintenance
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a busy yard environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Place trailers in required areas as instructed
• Manage yard operations and site rules adherence
• Support continuity of warehouse operations
• Maintain contact with operation areas as needed
• Carry out safety checks as designated by the company
• Report any defects, incidents, or breaches promptly
• Ensure fridge temperatures meet product requirements
• Monitor fridge diesel levels and refuel as needed
• Keep parking layouts correct and report debris to office
• Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards
• Adhere to Health & Safety legislation
