Job summary

Culina Group is recruiting for a Yard/Shunter role based in the UK night shift, 19:00 to 07:00, 4 on 4 off. You will manage yard movements, position trailers, and support warehouse operations while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires an LGV licence, CPC card, and shunting experience, with knowledge of fridge handling and basic vehicle maintenance. Excellent communication and deadline discipline are essential.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence and LGV licence with CPC Driver Card are required.
• Experience in shunting and yard management is essential.
• Fridge knowledge and able to monitor temperatures.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance is desirable.
• Manual handling procedures must be followed.
• Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Place trailers in designated areas according to instructions.
• Manage yard to ensure compliance with site rules.
• Support continuity of warehouse operations and processes.
• Maintain contact with operation areas as needed.
• Perform safety checks as designated by the company.
• Report defects, accidents or incidents promptly.
• Ensure fridge temperatures meet product requirements.
• Ensure fridge diesel tanks are adequately fueled.
• Flag any overspeeding by drivers or subcontractors to the office.
• Keep vehicle parking layouts correct and report debris.
• Maintain hygiene and housekeeping to company standards.

Job Description

To ensure timely trailer movements, on and off of loading bays, and to ensure the yard is managed correctly and safely at all times, with all vehicle movement being controlled in line with Company standards and operational requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

• Place trailers in the required areas as per instruction
• Undertake effective yard management ensuring all Site Rules are adhered to
• Support the continuity of Warehouse operations and processes
• Maintain contact with areas of the operation as necessary
• Ensure all safety checks are carried out as designated by the Company.
• Ensure that defects, accident damage and any incidents are reported as soon as they are found.
• Ensure fridges are set at the correct temperature, in line with loaded product temperature requirements.
• Ensure fridge diesel tanks have adequate fuel at all times.
• Report any breaches in speed limits by drivers and sub contractors to the office.
• Keep vehicle parking area layouts as they should be and report any issues of debris to the office
• Ensure that Company standards of hygiene and housekeeping, are maintained at all times
• Adhere to Health & Safety legislation

Qualifications

• Full Driving Licence
• LGV licence
• CPC Driver Card
• Working with and driving LGV’s
• Previous shunting experience
• Manual Handling procedures
• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
• Fridge knowledge
• Ability to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised and time-critical environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication
