Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Network Technician (Nights) to manage the mains network during night shifts (10pm–8am). You will support identification and resolution of water supply issues, operate network assets, and contribute to leakage reduction and DMA integrity.

Responsibilities include mains shutdowns, locating leaks with specialist equipment, data logging with Maximo and GIS, supervising contractors, and liaising with customers.

Qualifications

• Good standard of secondary education and able to demonstrate numeracy and literacy.
• National Water Hygiene certification (provided by the business).
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Strong Customer Service Skills.
• Ability to work effectively alone at night, outdoors in all weather.
• Proficiency in data entry and understanding of work management systems such as GIS.
• Experience in utilities/infrastructure (preferably water).
• Experience handling customer queries or complaints.
• Knowledge of water distribution and leakage detection practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform mains shutdowns, including risk assessments and interruption reports.
• Investigate and locate hidden leaks using specialised equipment and leakage detection techniques.
• Undertake validation, pressure zonal tests and flow tests to ensure DMA integrity.
• Undertake repair and maintenance on leakage assets like PRVs and data logging equipment.
• Collect, record or correct network asset data and work details in systems like Maximo and GIS.
• Supervise contractors, create work order requests for contractor response.
• Conduct flushing and water sampling following regulatory guidelines.
• Liaise with customers regarding leaks and plumbing issues.
• Coordinate with internal teams on night activities and leak repairs.
