Job summary

The Network Technician (Nights) at South East Water operates the mains network during nights, ensuring reliable water delivery and assisting customers with supply issues. Tasks include leak detection, DMA validation, and data logging using Maximo and GIS, with supervision of contractors and night-team coordination.

Requires numeracy, National Water Hygiene, a full driving licence, and strong customer service. Location-based in the UK with a 10pm–8am schedule and a 25% night shift allowance.

Qualifications

• Good standard of secondary education and numeracy/literacy.
• National Water Hygiene certification.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work at night with minimal supervision.
• Experience using GIS and data entry in work mgmt systems.
• Experience in utilities/infrastructure, water preferred.
• Experience handling customer queries about leaks.

Responsibilities

• Perform mains shutdowns with risk assessments and reports.
• Locate hidden leaks using specialist equipment and techniques.
• Validate DMAs, conduct pressure and flow tests.
• Repair leakage assets and maintain network equipment.
• Record data in Maximo and GIS, ensure accuracy.
• Supervise contractor work on the distribution network.
• Conduct flushing and water sampling per guidelines.
• Liaise with customers about leaks and plumbing issues.
• Coordinate night team activities with internal staff.
