Job summary

IVC Evidensia’s Abivale Vet Group in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, is seeking a highly experienced Veterinary Surgeon for a permanent Night Vet role. The rota is 7 on, 14 off, with shifts covering evenings and weekends to maintain a 24-hour service.

The package includes up to £65,000 (DOE), a welcome bonus up to £5,000 pro rata and relocation of up to £5,000 pro rata, with a strong emphasis on development, wellbeing and team support.

Qualifications

• A Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS.
• Significant experience in small or mixed animal practice.
• Experience mentoring and supporting veterinary colleagues.
• Strong leadership, communication and decision‑making skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality veterinary care as Night Vet.
• Lead and mentor junior staff and support clinical governance.
• Manage complex cases and maintain patient safety and welfare.

About Us

At Abivale we have a range of equipment including: ultrasound, x-ray, endoscope, dental x-ray and a lab where we do a variety of inhouse blood work. We are the 24-hour emergency care provider for the surrounding area and have a dedicated night team of vets and nurses. The main practice is in walking distance to the historic town of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. We are 15minutes away from Oxford city centre, where there is lots of shops and restaurants and is a very beautiful city. One of the benefits of being based where we are is a fantastic array of transport links that can allow you to travel all over the UK.

Working Pattern

As mentioned, the rota will follow a 7 on 14 off pattern. Shifts will be Monday – Thursday (18:40 – 07:40), Friday (18:40 – 08:00), Saturday (18:00 – 09:00) and Sunday (18:00 – 07:40). Bank holidays will be 18:00 – 07:40.
