Job summary

Northern is seeking a Night Train Cleaner at Neville Hill TrainCare Centre, Leeds, to support night operations ensuring trains are clean and ready for service. You will work 35 hours per week onsite, with a 19:30–05:30 shift on a 4-week rolling roster, driving a company van and adhering to RSSB safety requirements.

No prior cleaning experience is needed as full training is provided; you must live within a 45-minute drive of the station and be at least 21 years old.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail, reliability and pride in your work.
• Willingness to work nights as part of a 4 week rolling roster.
• Must be physically capable of staying active during shifts.
• Full UK driving licence with clean record is essential.
• Be at least 21 years old for insurance purposes.

Responsibilities

• Clean train interiors thoroughly (tables, windows, seats, floors, high-touch areas).
• Remove litter and empty bins.
• Restock toilet supplies (soap, toilet paper).
• Perform full or deep cleans to meet hygiene standards.
• Use specialist cleaning equipment after training.
• Respond to significant cleaning tasks, including spills.
• Work with colleagues to prepare trains for service on time.
