Job summary

Maritime Transport in Manchester is seeking a Night Traffic Operator to manage drivers, coordinate port communications, and book entry slots. You will use TOPS to log start and finish times and chase ETAs to keep operations on track.

The role requires a confident communicator with strong UK geography knowledge, able to work 4 on 4 off, and adapt to changing situations with quick, organised problem solving.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Traffic Operator – Essential.
• Confident and clear communicator – written and verbal.
• Must be happy to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
• Excellent UK geographical knowledge.
• Can work on own initiative.
• Quick and efficient problem solving skills.
• Organised at all times.
• Flexibility to meet the demands of the business.

Responsibilities

• Dealing with multiple drivers.
• Communicating with ports.
• Booking delivery slots for entry in ports.
• Using TOPS for start/finish times.
• Chasing drivers for ETAs and timeliness.
• Rerouting jobs when needed.
• Checking PODs match jobs on the system.
• Informing customers about delays.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Dealing with multiple drivers
• Communicating with ports
• Booking delivery slots for entry in ports
• Using a Transport system called TOPS for putting down drivers start times and finish times
• Chasing drivers for etas and making sure they are on time
• Rerouting jobs as and when is needed
• Checking all PODS are matched up with all the correct jobs on the system
