Job summary

Care Support Scotland is seeking Night Support Workers in Scotland to join a team providing person-centred care and housing support. Roles include night shifts with part-time hours (27 hours across 3 nights) or (18 hours across 2 nights) per week, permanent roles, and a focus on promoting independence and wellbeing.

We value compassionate, reliable staff who can work collaboratively, adhere to SSSC guidelines, and help residents maintain safety and dignity. PVG and SSSC registration are required.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to the level required by the SSSC as a support worker in a housing support service / care at home service, or willing to work towards and to successfully complete qualification within the SSSC specified timeframe.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Passion for helping people live independently.
  • Experience or interest in housing, social care, or community support.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Care Support Scotland, and to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support that positively impacts the person we support’s health and wellbeing.
  • Contribute towards the co-production of, and then implement support plans.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of all support and its administration, including personal care, tenancy support, health needs (including assistance with medication), personal development, emotional needs and inclusion.
  • Ensure the safe entry and exit of residents and visitors to and from the building including the operation of CCTV equipment.
  • Resolve disputes involving people we support e.g. local neighbour complaints in line with Care Support Scotland’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in a daily hand-over with daytime support staff.
  • Operate in line with organisational Health and Safety policy and procedures.

About the Service

The service primarily provides accommodation with linked support but can work with people on an outreach basis who live outside of the cluster in the local area who have greater support needs.

Muirpark works with young people and adults who are 16+. The service can support people who have a diagnosed learning disability, an acquired brain injury or who are neurodivergent, who have acute mental health conditions, substance use issues, or who have a physical disability.

We provide care and support from 25 hours per week (for accommodation with linked support) up to 24/7 care (105 hours per week plus overnight support).

We are looking for hardworking and enthusiastic Night Support Workers to join our expanding team. We have 2x part-time posts available. Please specify in your application which post you are interested in:

Role and Responsibilities

Essential Skills and Attributes
  • Qualified to the level required by the SSSC as a support worker in a housing support service/care at home service, or a willingness to work towards and to successfully complete qualification within the SSSC specified timeframe.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • Passion for helping people live independently
  • Experience or interest in housing, social care, or community support
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Care Support Scotland, and to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
Desired Skills and Attributes
  • A practice qualification (at least SCQF level 7 or above) recognised by the SSSC, in the category of support workers in a Housing Support Service / Care at Home service, or willingness to work towards this.
  • If you’re starting a career in social care or are already working in social care but don’t have the qualifications just yet, we will support you to gain the appropriate qualifications needed to register without condition with the SSSC.
  • Previous demonstrable experience working within an adult social care setting
  • Understanding of the Care Inspectorate and its purpose
  • Understanding of the SSSC and its purpose
  • A Positive Behaviour Support, or Trauma Informed Practice qualification or accreditation.
