Job summary

Bethany Christian Trust in Edinburgh runs the Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre, providing emergency accommodation with support for people who would otherwise rough sleep. We are seeking a Night Shift Project Worker to deliver care and support during the night, showing compassion and respect to individuals experiencing homelessness.

The role covers 12-hour night shifts from 7:45 pm to 8:00 am on a fortnightly rolling rota, with PVG Scheme membership a requirement.

Qualifications

• Experience in working with the vulnerable and homeless.
• Understanding of mental health and addiction issues.
• Ability to deal with challenging behaviour appropriately.
• PVG Scheme membership is a requirement.
• Administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and clear record-keeping.
• Flexibility to respond to a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support volunteers serving meals.
• Monitor access to the Welcome Centre.
• Manage reception and respond to guest enquiries.
• Handle telephone calls and maintain accurate records.
• Conduct guest welfare checks during shifts.
