Job summary

St Wilfrid's Hospice in South Shields is looking for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join the In-Patient Unit for a night shift that runs 8:15pm to 7:45am, including weekends and bank holidays. You will deliver personal and clinical care alongside Registered Nurses and support patients and their families, including through bereavement where appropriate.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or at least one year of experience as a Senior Healthcare Assistant in health care or

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
• Alternatively, at least one year as a Senior Healthcare Assistant in health care or hospice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, person-centred palliative and end-of-life care
• Work with Registered Nurses to plan and deliver personalised care
• Undertake enhanced clinical duties delegated as part of the Senior Healthcare Assistant role
• Monitor patients' wellbeing and respond to changing needs
• Support patients and their loved ones emotionally, psychologically and spiritually
• Support families through difficult times, including bereavement
• Promote dignity, independence and choice for every patient
• Provide personal and clinical care and support colleagues
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care
• Contribute to day-to-day operational management and development of nursing services, as delegated by the Lead Nurse
