Job summary

Paul Rhodes Bakery is seeking an Assistant Packing Manager to oversee the packing department, drive efficiency, and uphold safety and quality standards at our Greenwich site. You will train and coach the packing team, coordinate daily operations, and partner with technical and hygiene colleagues to maintain production targets.

The role emphasizes leadership, reliability, and a proactive mindset in a busy food manufacturing environment at London-based facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in packing/production within food manufacturing or similar.
• Strong understanding of packing processes, quality checks, and compliance.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead by example and support the team.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Packing Manager in planning and supervising daily packing operations.
• Monitor packing lines for accuracy, efficiency, and quality.
• Coordinate shift schedules and staffing to meet production timelines.
• Support onboarding, training, and coaching of the team.
• Work with Technical, Production, and Hygiene teams on food safety and H&S compliance.
• Escalate issues affecting workflow, quality, or team performance.
• Ensure correct stock rotation, labelling, and traceability.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organised packing floor.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Act as point of contact in the Packing Manager's absence.
