Job summary

South East Water seeks an experienced Microbiology Analyst for a 6-month fixed-term contract in our advanced laboratories. You will perform and guide complex microbiological analyses, interpreting data to detect faecal indicators and protozoa, supporting both Microbiology and Cryptosporidium sections.

Role is full time (37 hours) with a twilight shift (16:00–03:00) and a 30-minute break; a 15% allowance applies. Join a market-leading team dedicated to safe, wholesome water.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or higher in a relevant subject.
• Willing to work towards full membership of a professional body.
• Excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy and laboratory skills.
• Previous knowledge of good laboratory practice.

Responsibilities

• Operate and ensure instrumentation is aligned with the Laboratory Management System.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
• Analyse data and complete laboratory paperwork.
• Document information with daily logs and equipment records.
• Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes.
• Ensure sample stability and turnaround are met for analyses.
• Prepare standards, reagents and QC samples as per procedures.
• Strive towards becoming a competent person under relevant regulations and pursue CPD.
