Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Microbiology Analyst on a 6‑month fixed term contract to help deliver safe, clean water to customers and partners. The role involves performing and guiding complex microbiological analysis, interpreting data for faecal indicator bacteria and protozoa, and operating modern methods within the Laboratory Management System.

It requires robust quality standards and ongoing development within our Microbiology and Cryptosporidium sections.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic qualification or scientific subject at NVQ level 3 equivalent or above.
• Willing to work towards full membership of a professional body.
• Excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy and laboratory skills.
• Previous knowledge and/or experience of good laboratory practice.

Responsibilities

• Operate and guide microbiological analysis in line with Laboratory Management System.
• Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Analyse and interpret data and complete laboratory paperwork.
• Maintain daily logs and equipment records.
• Ensure data is entered into LIMS within set timeframes.
• Ensure sample stability and turnaround times for analyses.
• Prepare standards, reagents and QC samples per internal procedures.
• Pursue Continued Professional Development as per Regulation 16(2)(d)(i).
