Job summary

A.F. Blakemore & Son Ltd in Wakefield is recruiting for a Logistics Shift Manager - Night Shift (Internal Only).

The role covers 10pm–6am across 5 of 7 shifts, demanding proactive leadership within our Logistics Division to ensure efficient, cost-effective depot operations and high service standards. The successful candidate will manage goods receipt, despatch, stock control, and staff performance, while maintaining compliance with policies and legal requirements.

Qualifications

• High degree of numeracy and literacy.
• Level 3 IOSH health and safety qualification – preferable.
• Warehousing and transport experience preferred.
• Communicates effectively at all levels.
• Ability to provide leadership, direction and motivation to teams.
• Ability to deal with conflict in an effective and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Maintain efficient and effective operations through team management and KPI achievement.
• Ensure high standards of customer service across all duties.
• Control of goods receipt, replenishment, ferrying, order processing and despatch.
• Oversee stocktaking, checking and maintenance procedures and results.
• Manage all ancillary operations affecting service quality.
• Recruitment, development, retention and performance of staff; supervise shift-hour schemes.
• Support continuous improvement objectives using available tools and techniques.
