Job summary

Zest is seeking a Night Shift Engineer to service and maintain high-speed production and processing equipment on a permanent night shift. You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

The role requires a recognised engineering qualification, an adaptable, hands-on approach, and a willingness to work permanent nights.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification recognised (NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent).
• Multi-skilled with electrical bias; experience preferred.
• Experience in FMCG or fast-paced production environment.
• Willingness to work permanent night shifts.
• Hands-on, proactive problem solver.

Responsibilities

Night Shift Engineer

Salary: c.£60,000 plus overtime and benefits. Shift pattern: Permanent nights. Commutable from: Huntingdon, St Neots, Peterborough, Cambridge, St Ives.

The Role

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of high‑speed production and processing equipment
• Respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to support continuous improvement
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with food safety standards
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activity

What We’re Looking For

• A recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent apprenticeship)
• Multi‑skilled engineering background; electrical bias preferred but not essential
• Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or a similarly fast‑paced production environment
• Willingness to work permanent nights
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving skills
