Job summary

Workforce Recruitment and Training seeks an experienced CNC Setter Operator for a night shift in Ferndown. You will set and operate Mazak CNC turning centres, read engineering drawings, and run production with a strong emphasis on quality. The role includes first-off and in-process inspection, tool wear monitoring, and occasional programming edits.

Immediate starts available and Mazak training is provided. Hours are 40 per week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30pm–7:00am, on a full-time/permanent basis.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating CNC turning machines.
• Experience with Mazak machines and controls is advantageous.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Understanding of turning processes, tooling and inspection equipment.
• CNC programming experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate Mazak CNC turning centres.
• Set tooling, workholding, offsets and machine parameters.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Run production efficiently while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspection.
• Monitor tool wear and make offset adjustments where required.
• Make minor programme edits when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Follow quality, health & safety and 5S procedures.
