Job summary

SER-IN is seeking an experienced CNC Hartford Horizontal Borer - Setter/Operator/Programmer for a permanent night shift role in Ashton-under-Lyne. You will set, operate, and program a Fanuc-controlled machine to manufacture large fabrications and precision components from engineering drawings.

The role offers a lucrative night shift salary and regular overtime, with benefits including 33 days holiday, an 8% total pension contribution, and a health & safety bonus scheme.

Qualifications

• Proven experience setting, operating, and programming CNC horizontal boring machines.
• Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls.
• Ability to program directly from engineering drawings.
• Experience using CIMCO CAD/CAM or Autodesk Fusion for offline programming would be advantageous.
• Experience machining large engineering components within a heavy engineering environment.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Setting, operating, and programming a CNC Horizontal Boring Machine.
• Programming directly from engineering drawings using Fanuc controls.
• Producing medium to heavy engineering components to customer specifications.
• Working with large fabrications, castings, and complex machined components.
• Selecting suitable tooling, workholding, cutting conditions, and machining strategies.
• Using CIMCO CAD/CAM or Autodesk Fusion software for offline programming where appropriate.
• Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection using manual measuring equipment.
• Ensuring all components meet required tolerances and quality standards.
• Maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.
• Supporting production requirements and completing overtime when required.
