About the Role
We are seeking a Night Security Guard to join our team and help ensure the safety and security of YMCA premises, staff and Service Users during the night. Working as part of the night team, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment across our accommodation, programme, public and office areas, responding appropriately to incidents and supporting the welfare of residents and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the security of YMCA premises, including hostel rooms, self-contained accommodation, off-site provision and programme, public and office areas.
- Ensure the safety and security of staff and Service Users, responding rapidly to incidents and providing assistance to colleagues when required.
- Monitor CCTV as required and follow appropriate procedures relating to resident rules, Health and Safety, Fire and First Aid.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including fire, and ensure incidents are accurately recorded and reported to the night team.
- Record events and relevant information in the Handover Book and complete Serious Incident forms where required.
- Ensure your SIA licence remains valid and comply with YMCA policies, procedures and relevant safeguarding requirements.
- Attend relevant training and contribute to the aims and purposes of YMCA Bournemouth.

Qualifications and Experience
- SIA licence.
- Experience of working independently in a position of responsibility.
- Ability to work responsibly without close supervision.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.

- Willingness to attend relevant training.
- Caring and sympathetic nature.
- Sympathetic to the YMCA ethos.
- Qualifications or courses in Basic Health and Safety, Housing, Mental Health, Customer Care or related areas.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of good practice relating to safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Previous experience of dispute or conflict resolution.

- The role has a statutory, occupational requirement to ensure the safety and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk that they may come across using our services. The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk as a priority and follow both YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policy and BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership and Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership statutory guidance.

If the role involves regulated activity with children or adults at risk, your employment will be subject to an Enhanced level DBS check prior to commencement date.
