Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is sourcing a Roadside Technician for a nights position in the Oxford/Reading area to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. Salary is £42,921.87 OTE £53,000 with overtime and bonus opportunities.

40 hours per week, shifts from 6am to 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Role requires Level 2 (ideally Level 3) in light vehicle maintenance and repair, 2+ years post-qualification experience, and a full UK driving licence with up to 6 points.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ or equivalent).
• Ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
