Job summary

The Odney Hotel, part of the John Lewis Partnership, is seeking a Night Porter to help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for guests and staff throughout the night. You will act as a brand ambassador while supporting other hotel teams and safeguarding estate security by night.

Applicants must be comfortable working alone, be 18+, and able to respond to alarms and maintenance needs while maintaining excellent guest service on a historic riverside site in Cookham.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Experience working under pressure and in a lone working environment is essential.
• First aid certification is preferred.
• Duty managing and building security requires PC & IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Being a brand ambassador who provides a consistently outstanding customer experience
• Demonstrates flexibility to support across other areas of the hotel and departments when required
• Providing security services across the estate
• Working with the maintenance team to resolve reactive maintenance issues
• Check-in and check-out of late arrivals and early departures
• Locking and securing estate outbuildings and offices
• Reacting to and resetting building alarms where required

As a Night Porter, you are a vital member of our team, dedicated to providing an exceptional guest experience. By delivering a fantastic service and maintaining a safe, secure environment, you ensure our guests, members, and staff feel well cared for throughout the night. If you are looking for a hotel with something different and some history to work in, then The Odney Hotel, our Place by the River could be for you. This is a beautiful and unique John Lewis Partnership owned hotel, set in 130 acres by the River Thames in Cookham, Berkshire. It offers both character and charm to our guests. The guests can stay in one of 5 beautiful houses on the site, each maintaining the period look of it’s time with access to the picturesque grounds including a private stretch of river, water gardens, a pool and sports facilities. The main building Lullebrook Manor and it’s grounds are thought to have been the inspiration for the classic novel The Wind in The Willows bringing history along with relaxation where you can enjoy afternoon tea on the terrace, a drink in the bar or a meal overlooking the river.
