Recruitment Consultant at Alexander Steele | Food, Drinks and Consumer Goods Recruitment Specialist - Technical, Operations, Supply Chain & Commercial

Location: Blackburn, Lancashire

Salary: Up to £45,000

Shift: Sunday to Thursday, nightshift

We’re working with a successful and growing food manufacturing business in the Burnley area who are looking for an experienced Hygiene Manager to join their team.

This is a key role within the technical function, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about raising hygiene standards to support the production of safe, high-quality food. With the company expanding and continuing to invest in their people and site, it’s a great time to come on board and make a real impact.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the hygiene team to maintain and continuously improve hygiene standards across the site
  • Driving the planning, coordination and execution of daily hygiene schedules and deep cleans
  • Supporting with training and development of hygiene and production staff in cleaning procedures
  • Managing hygiene-related stock such as chemicals, equipment and consumables
  • Working with HR on people management tasks including absence reviews, RTWs and disciplinaries
  • Taking the lead on hygiene inspections, validations, swabbing and cleaning verifications
  • Collaborating with technical, QA and production teams to ensure audit-ready hygiene standards
  • Supporting with investigations and implementation of corrective actions for out-of-spec results
  • Ensuring COSHH compliance and supporting H&S in related areas
  • Involvement in continuous improvement and site hygiene projects

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in a hygiene management or hygiene supervisor role within food manufacturing
  • A confident people manager who can lead, coach, and motivate a team
  • Excellent understanding of cleaning standards, GMP, BRCGS, and food safety requirements
  • Strong communicator who works well cross-functionally with production, QA and technical teams
  • Organised and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset
