Job summary

Mercure Newcastle George Washington Hotel, Golf & Spa is seeking a reliable Night Porter to join our team. Working overnight, you will be the welcoming face for late arrivals and ensure the security and smooth operation of the property.

The role requires independence, strong guest service skills and the ability to balance hospitality with operational duties, including Night Audit and basic food & beverage service for overnight guests.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel experience is essential for this role.
• Ability to work overnight and independently.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Cash handling and financial reconciliation experience.
• You must be aged 18+ due to licensing.
• A Food Hygiene Certificate is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, professional service to guests overnight.
• Check-in/check-out procedures for late arrivals.
• Assist guests with luggage and information.
• Handle guest enquiries and requests overnight.
• Operate the hotel telephone and switchboard professionally.
• Complete the Night Audit and balance daily revenue.
• Ensure guest charges and payments are posted correctly.
• Set up and break down meeting rooms as required.
• Maintain the security of the hotel and grounds.
