Job summary

Stonehaven Care Group in Brixham is seeking a Night Care Assistant to join Cross Park for 36 hours per week. You will support residents with daily living tasks, follow each care plan, and contribute to a respectful, person-centred home.

The role demands good communication, compassion, and reliability overnight, with training on safety, personal care and teamwork. You will help residents with dressing, mobility and meals, while promoting activity and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care home, hospital, or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills with a professional and respectful approach to colleagues and residents.
• Compassionate and patient nature with genuine interest in improving lives of older or vulnerable people.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform manual handling and cleaning tasks.
• Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• To promote and maintain a person centered care approach to all service users that allows them to.
• To promote and maintain the needs of each service user as set out in their care plan.
• To take part in the review or update of any service user care plans and risk assessments if required.
• Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting.
• Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in the use aids, care of aids and personal equipment.
• Care for residents temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing.
• Help care for residents who are dying.
• Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreation.
• Make and change beds; tidy rooms and keep everything clean.
• Inspect, launder and mend residents' clothing.
• Set tables and trays; serve meals; feed residents who need help; prepare light meals and wash up; tidy and clean the dining room.
• Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors.
• Read and write reports; take part in care team and residents' meetings and in training activities as directed.
• Such other duties as may reasonably be required.
