Job summary

Right at Home Harrogate is seeking caring Waking Night Care Assistants to support clients in their own homes during hours when they are asleep. This role focuses on safety, dignity and wellbeing, providing overnight personal care and companionship.

Full training is provided, with enhanced pay for waking night shifts, mileage allowances and opportunities for progression within a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support.
• Assist with repositioning and mobility to promote comfort.
• Support with medication administration where trained and authorised.
• Prepare light snacks and drinks and encourage hydration.
• Provide reassurance and companionship to reduce night-time anxiety.
• Complete electronic care records after each visit.
• Follow safeguarding, infection control and lone working procedures.

We are looking for caring, reliable and professional Waking Night Care Assistants to join our friendly team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working nights and wants to make a real difference by providing reassurance, companionship and high-quality care when clients need it most.

As a Waking Night Care Assistant, you will remain awake for the duration of your shift, visiting clients in their own homes throughout the night or providing longer periods of support where required. You will ensure clients remain safe, comfortable and well cared for, responding promptly to their needs while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to clients in their own homes during overnight hours.
• Carry out scheduled welfare checks to ensure clients remain safe and comfortable.
• Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support.
• Assist with repositioning and mobility to promote comfort and prevent pressure damage.
• Support clients with medication administration where trained and authorised.
• Prepare light snacks and drinks, encouraging hydration where appropriate.
• Provide reassurance and companionship to reduce anxiety during the night.
• Monitor clients for any changes in their physical or emotional wellbeing and report concerns promptly.
• Accurately complete electronic care records after each visit.
• Follow all safeguarding, infection prevention and control, medication, health and safety and lone working procedures.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies, contacting the on-call team or emergency services when required.
• Travel safely between clients' homes throughout the shift.

What we're looking for

• A caring, compassionate and dependable individual with a genuine passion for helping others.
• Previous care experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
• Confidence working independently and making informed decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Willingness to complete mandatory training and continue developing professionally.
• Right to work in the UK.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own reliable vehicle are essential, as this is a community-based role involving travel between clients' homes during the night.
• Willingness to work overnight shifts, including alternate weekends.
• Enhanced DBS check (we can support with the application if required).
