Job summary

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to join our Medical and Surgical divisions. You will assist with daily living activities, support mobility, prepare patients for tests, and help maintain a safe, comforting environment across inpatient and outpatient areas.

No prior care experience is required, but kindness and a genuine desire to help others are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous healthcare experience is helpful but not essential.
• What matters most is that you are kind, caring, compassionate and committed to helping others.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities (eating, washing, showering, dressing).
• Support patients with mobility and safe movement around the ward.
• Prepare patients for tests, procedures and investigations.
• Make beds and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Record and document care and tasks accurately.
• Undertake patient observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation).
• Escort and transfer patients to other departments.
• Support patient admissions and discharges.
• Support specialty clinics and procedures.
• Provide reassurance, emotional support and practical assistance to patients and families.
• Work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to meet patients' needs.
