Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Apprentice Healthcare Support Worker to join our ward teams across the hospital. You will learn on the job, guided by qualified nursing staff, and support patients and their families with care and information.

The role covers a wide range of duties, including basic health checks, helping with meals and mobility, assisting with housekeeping and infection control, and ensuring a clean, safe, welcoming environment for all patients

Qualifications

• Must pass BKSB (Maths and English Functional Skills).
• Friendly, caring and sensitive individuals who can provide social stimulation and care to patients.
• Attitude and behaviour aligned with the Trust values – Kindness, Respect, Safety and Excellence.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision assist with the delivery of care plans as described by the Registered Nurse/Midwife.
• Assist patients with their care needs and report changes to the Registered Nurse/Midwife.
• Support the Registered Nurse/Midwife and other health professionals with mobility, transfers and basic patient handling.
• Monitor patients’ condition and report any changes to the nursing team.
• Assist with meals, hydration and helping patients with eating and drinking as required.
• Maintain awareness of patients’ nutritional needs and safeguarding requirements.
• Record patient observations and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
• Support stock management and maintain cleanliness and safety in wards.
