Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant based at Leverndale Hospital to support high-quality patient meals. You will assist with preparation, assembly, packing and safe serving, while upholding food hygiene and HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, hospitality, food service or customer service is desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
• Understanding of food hygiene, health and safety and infection control practices.
• Willingness to undertake training including food hygiene, COSHH and manual handling.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Driving licence is essential if the role includes delivery of functions or catering supplies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, meal assembly and packing for patients.
• Support distribution, regeneration and service of meals across designated service areas.
• Carry out cleaning, wash-up and housekeeping duties within catering areas.
• Monitor and maintain food hygiene, temperature control and HACCP procedures.
• Ensure food is received, stored and rotated correctly in line with standards.
• Operate catering equipment safely according to training and procedures.
• Collaborate with colleagues, ward staff and other departments to provide an efficient catering service.
